Our Story

In 2014, Bush Gyal started her journey in agriculture and aquaculture by cultivating short crops and fruit trees and intensively rearing tilapia fish. However, in 2017, founder, Jewel Joseph, paused this journey to engage in voluntary work in the Rupununi Interior of Guyana, South America. What was supposed to be a short home visit to Trinidad and Tobago in 2020, led to experiencing lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This period of unexpected change allowed more time for reflection, learning, resourcefulness and creativity. Curiosity, a passion for all things edible and the outdoors along with a heightened importance to keep one's immunity strong during the pandemic, sparked the development of our yogurts and probiotic drinks. Now, Bush Gyal has a greater renewed purpose as revealed by our mission. Bush Gyal exists to have positive social and environmental impact and value on our global community.
